CARE to SHARE NC
An Academic-Community Network
Summary of 2021-2022 Series
The CTS is a Carolina Seminar that brings together faculty from UNC-CH and UNC-G along with community partners to address issues that matter most to children, youth, families and the institutions that serve them. CTS events are open to scholars and community members across the triangle and triad regardless of discipline and organizational affiliation. Our goal is to disseminate research to the broader community and to make the needs of the broader community central to the research agendas of academics. In 2021-2022, we focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted youth and in 2022-2023 we will focus on recovery and resilience in children and youth whether around issues of COVID-19 or other forms of stress and challenge. The program is facilitated by Andrea Hussong (Professor, Psychology and Neuroscience, UNC-CH), Jennifer Coffman (Associate Professor, Human Development and Family Studies, UNC-Greensboro), and Gabriela Livas Stein (Professor and Chair, Psychology, UNC-Greensboro),
Series White Paper: The Pandemic Impact on Local Youth
Spurred by the pressing need to respond to the current
developmental crises impacting youth in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we
focused the first year of this seminar on using a strengths-based approach to
understand and support youth in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic and
intertwined, co-occurring crises. For a summary of what issues and potential solutions were highlighted by this group, download the white paper below.
