Satvika Char
CLINICAL DOCTORAL STUDENTSatvika Char is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at UNC-CH. She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology (with a minor in Literature) from Krea University, India. Satvika then pursued a master’s in Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology at University College London, and spent two years researching family violence and substance use at the Yale University Child Study Center. Satvika’s research interests broadly include working with underserved children and families to study the impact of various forms of adversity such as conflict or addiction, and exploring caregiver-child relationships in these contexts. Through this work, Satvika hopes to improve our understanding of different risk or protective factors that influence wellbeing, and support families in mitigating the intergenerational transmission of risk.
Amanda Haik
CLINICAL DOCTORAL STUDENTAmanda (she/her) is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She previously earned her B.A. in Psychology from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. Amanda’s research focuses on identifying protective factors that support sexual and gender minority youth health and wellbeing. In her spare time, she coaches a 10-year-old girls soccer team!

Rachel Petrie
CLINICAL DOCTORAL STUDENTRachel Petrie is a graduate student in the doctoral program for Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also received her Master’s degree. She received her B.A. from the University of California Davis in 2018. Currently, Rachel studies the influence of parenting styles and behaviors on the process of children’s gratitude development.
Adrianna Richards
CLINICAL DOCTORAL STUDENTAdrianna is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She previously earned her M.A. in Applied Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg, and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Adrianna’s research involves the study of positive emotion, resilience, trauma, and adversity in youth and families.
Jen Traver
QUANTITATIVE DOCTORAL STUDENTJen (she/her) is a doctoral student in the quantitative psychology program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She previously earned her M.S in Psychological Sciences from The College of William & Mary. Jen’s research focuses on the intersection of developmental psychopathology and longitudinal modeling, with a specific focus on capturing the complex processes underlying substance use.
